Valentine’s Day is observed around the world as a day to celebrate unconditional love and the heartfelt relationship you have with your significant other, or loved ones. I enjoy celebrating this day, mainly because I love celebrating any holiday. But.. I don’t believe that this one day, and all the commercialism encompassed, should measure the true merit of love in my relationship. My boyfriend does a very good job of making every day as special as this one, so for me, Valentine’s Day is just like any other day. Although, I do have to say, the two dozen red roses that my boyfriend had delivered to my job were SO beautiful.. And the accompanying box of chocolates definitely hit the spot!
My boyfriend and I never go out to dinner on Valentine’s Day. I refuse to. I don’t understand why couples would endure awful service and a disappointing, rushed meal, especially at jacked-up prices at these fancy restaurants. We always decide on a restaurant that we both enjoy or want to try, and make a reservation for a day preceding Valentine’s Day. We tend to splurge a little on a nice dinner for Valentine’s Day because we both like to eat and eat good. This year, we dined at OHEKA Castle, and our experience was nothing short of amazing. I was in awe over how beautiful the Castle was. We will definitely be returning for another meal one day.
As for our meal on the actual day, we picked up some burritos and stuffed our faces while we simply enjoyed each other’s company, in our pajamas, on the couch. These are the kind of nights I love and wouldn’t trade for the world. I’m forever grateful and truly blessed to have crossed paths with my boyfriend, and I don’t need one day to show him how much he really means to me.
I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
