The other night, my friend and I went to The Witches Brew in Hempstead, NY. This cafe is well known for their extensive variety of coffees and teas, their savory desserts, their entirely vegetarian food menu, and the atmosphere created therein. This cafe has a spooky ambiance with gothic decor, as if it’s Halloween 365 days a year. You’re seated at quaint, mismatched tables, in love seats and plush pillowed chairs that make you feel as if you’re right at home.
The Witches Brew has been around for years but has been quite a hit on social media lately so be prepared for a long wait. We waited about 35 minutes before we were seated. Thing is, here, people like to hang out. As we were escorted to our table, I noticed that most people were just sitting there chatting about their day or the latest gossip, some taking selfies, and some even doing their homework.. It’s like your typical coffee shop, but better!
Anyone who knows me, knows I love my sweets. I decided to start off with a frozen hot chocolate which tasted like a chocolate milkshake. I then ordered the Banana Foster Waffle and a slice of Red Velvet Cheesecake. Both were amazing. I was extremely pleased when I took a bite out of my waffle and it was still warm! A++!
The wait staff were all very accommodating and super laid back.. Their standard dress code seems to be killer dreadlocks, Van’s skate shoes, green hair, and a lot of tattoos which really does add to the vibe that this place has goin’ on.
This cafe only accepts cash and will not accommodate parties of 6 or more. This place is really just for when you and your friend want to kick it and chat over a delicious cup of coffee.. Or frozen hot chocolate in my case.
