I’ve just recently returned from a little trip to California. The main purpose of the trip was to attend a family member’s wedding but we decided to make a mini vacation out of it. We flew in to the beautiful city of San Diego and this is where a little piece of my heart remains. I loved everything about San Diego.. A canvas of palm trees, architecture unlike here in New York, friendly people, warm sand, and best yet, the Pacific Ocean! It was my first time in Cali, and my first time touching the Pacific Ocean. Well, I should say falling, because I actually slipped on some rocks and fell into the water! We checked out the seals at La Jolla Cove which were perched up, sunbathing on some rocks, and in an attempt to get closer, I slipped. It was hilarious, actually. La Jolla was so picturesque and inviting that I can’t wait to return again one day.
My boyfriend and I decided to take a ride and check out Mission Beach. It was tourist central as the beach was immense and the boardwalk offered many restaurants, little shops, an amusement park, and of course, palm trees galore. Locals were riding bikes, skateboarding, and even rollerblading! Rollerblading is my favorite, so naturally, I wanted to join in! We decided to eat at Draft, a restaurant right on the boardwalk overlooking the ocean. Front row seats to watch surfers shred the gnar! I recommend ordering the house Bloody Mary.. It was superb. Mission Beach is a must see if you’re visiting the Southern end of California.
Now, to the highlight of my trip, which is no surprise if you know me.. DISNEYLAND! I am truthfully a 5 year old trapped in a 24 year old’s body. I love Disney… From the rides at the parks, big hugs from the characters, the magic of the castle, the firework shows that are so beautiful that they instill all types of emotion… And of course, all of the Disney movies and the heart-felt stories behind them that make the Disney parks what they are today. The little kid in me has never grown up (I followed Peter Pan’s advice). I’m in the happiest form when I am in Disney to the point where my cheeks hurt from smiling so much. Considering we visited in the month of October, we were able to experience Halloween in Disney. It was nothing short of amazing. Although, I have to say, it doesn’t beat Christmas in Disney!
On the last evening of our vacation, we attended the wedding. I love weddings. I’m a pretty emotional person and I always cry during the vows. And if the bride and groom write their own vows, it’s game over.. I’m bawling and my makeup is ruined indefinitely. I’m going to have some serious problems on my wedding day if I can’t even keep it together at other people’s weddings. But on a lighter note, I’m the type of guest at weddings that never leaves the dance floor. You can always find me breaking it down.. Until the cake comes out, that is.
Tips & Tricks:
- If you’re planning a trip to Walt Disney World and/or Disneyland around the holidays, make sure you get tickets to their exclusive holiday parties. Tickets sell out extremely fast!
- Make sure you take advantage of the Fast Pass kiosks that are scattered across the park grounds. No one enjoys waiting in a long line for a ride.. Especially if you don’t have to!
- Download the Disney App… You can stay up to date with ride wait times and entertainment schedules right from your phone.
